Lead Java Software Engineer (Team Lead) in Sofia, Bulgaria

Project Description

We are looking for a hands-on backend team leader to join our portal backend group and lead one of our teams.

You will work closely with the Group manager, VP of Engineering, and tech lead, coordinate with the team members, help solve problems, and maintain high product quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
• Provide technical and personal guidance and mentorship to your team members
• Work closely with the group manager, other team leads and tech leads to achieve business goals.
• Collaborate with the PM to prioritize tasks, manage feature development, and plan product releases
• Provide architecture oversight, encouraging the team to innovate and develop edge technologies
• Provide high code quality and demonstrate high development standards

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience leading a team in Agile methodology
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Backend development of complex systems
• Proficient in Java, with a strong understanding of its ecosystems, including frameworks such as Spring, and experience in building scalable and maintainable applications
• Experience with Kafka and Docker – a must!
• Experience with SQL - a must
• DBs - Postgres, Mongo, or Cassandra
• Nomad, Consul – advantage
• Networking, security - advantage
• Strong Leadership skills – Hands-on ability to inspire, motivate, train, and manage the team to meet high goals
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, fostering open communication, collaboration, and effective conflict resolution within the team
• Experience with Open-source development model- Advantage
• Experience with Cloud environments (AWS) - Advantage
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
