As a Senior Back End Engineer specializing in Node.js and TypeScript, this role involves full-time engagement within a cross-functional development team based in the Czech Republic. The engineer contributes to building innovative backend solutions that support multinational organizations and scaling startups by addressing complex business challenges through custom product engineering.

• Take end-to-end ownership of features related to authentication, authorization, and identity management.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, distributed backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, Kafka, and Redis.
• Work with event-driven architecture and design services capable of handling millions of requests per day in production.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the ongoing evolution of the platform and codebase.
• Improve and maintain an existing mature codebase, applying appropriate engineering and development practices.
• Design and maintain CI/CD processes and support reliable release workflows.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver and integrate new features.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.
• Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude as part of the development workflow.

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Experience building distributed and high-throughput backend services.
• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and message-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and Redis.
• Experience with authentication and identity management concepts and technologies, including OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
• Familiarity with SAML, WebAuthn, and SSO.
• Experience working with MySQL or other relational databases.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and release processes.
• Experience working with mature codebases and contributing to architectural decisions.
• Strong code review, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.

• Experience with AWS and cloud-based backend services.
• Working knowledge of React and frontend development; approximately 10% of the role involves frontend work.
• Familiarity with MongoDB.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
