Data Engineer, End-to-end batch data platform on AWS
Duration: Oct. 2025 - Present
Summary: Designed and built an end-to-end batch data platform on AWS using medallion architecture, integrating multiple source domains into an analytics-ready warehouse in RDS Postgres.
Responsibilities:
- Provisioned the full cloud stack as infrastructure-as-code with Terraform - S3 data lake, IAM roles & policies, AWS Glue jobs, MWAA (Managed Airflow), RDS Postgres, and VPC networking.
- Implemented medallion architecture (raw -> bronze -> silver -> gold): raw CSV/JSONL files landed in S3 are transformed to Parquet through bronze and silver layers, then joined and enriched into a curated gold schema in Postgres.
- Developed 6 PySpark ETL jobs on AWS Glue 4.0 (G.1X × 2 workers) covering three source domains - sales, customers, and user profiles - including cross-source enrichment (silver -> gold writing to gold.user_profiles_enriched).
- Orchestrated 4 Apache Airflow DAGs on MWAA that trigger Glue jobs via GlueJobOperator - two @daily pipelines (sales, customers) and two on-demand (user profiles, enrichment). DAG source synced from S3 every ~5 min.
- Modeled the gold layer in Postgres for downstream analytics consumption - enforced keys, types, and idempotent writes so re-runs produce stable results.
Technologies: Python, PySpark, AWS (S3, Glue, IAM, MWAA, RDS Postgres, VPC), Apache Airflow, Terraform, SQL, Parquet.
